Ukulele Workshop - "Uke Can Build It"
A ukulele-building workshop will be back at this year's Festival. Guided by luithier Wolf Kater, the workshop was successfully introduced at last year's festival.
The workshop invites participants to build their own four-string ukulele and then explore the wide range of playing possibilities this instrument has to offer from uke wizards James Hill and Chalmers Doane.
Festival Special: Workshop $55 *
Price includes all materials and the uke-building workshop, and participation in classes and jam sessions at the Ottawa Folk Festival. Space is limited. Reserve your space now by calling the Festival office at 613-230-8243.
* Does not include cost of entry to the festival.
Ottawa Folk Festival - Unplugged & Unbottled
The Ottawa Folk Festival is going plastic water bottle free! In an effort to reduce waste and encourage people to drink City water, no bottled water will be sold on-site this year. Instead, we're asking that you bring a water bottle or purchase a stainless steel one from our General Store and use the refill stations at the festival site.
Working closely with Ottawa Riverkeeper, Council of Canadians, Life Without Plastic and CUPE 503, we're the first festival in Ottawa to take this positive step. We hope it will inspire audience members, volunteers, artists and other events to make similar changes.
2009 Volunteer Applications
The Folkest is now accepting 2009 applications for Volunteer Crew Members. Join the 800-strong crew that makes it all happen. We expect to have more volunteer applications than spaces available this year. This is your friendly warning to apply early to avoid disappointment later!
